I have received an e-mail from Sky requesting me to renew my password, and as I have never had to do this before, I am wondering why Sky should require me do do so now, so is it really necessary, or is it a scam of some sort? Please advise as I value your opinions, TIA.

If you've any doubt give them a phone call and ask what it's about. if you press the services button on your sky controller all the phone numbers come up, better safe then sorry

Thanks paddywack, I will do that to-morrow a/m.
Did the email address you by name?
A typical scam email will say something like "Dear Customer" or Dear Subscriber",a genuine one will always address you by the name you gave when signing up for the service/website. I would still phone Sky to be on the safe side though before renewing any information via email or internet.
sounds like a phisherman in action ...
