How did one of my dreadful children change my PC screen so that it now displays on its side (a 90 degree turn!)? And what can I do to change it back?

Possibly your PC has graphics software that lets you do this for, say, desktop publishing (some flat screens are designed to pivot and the image rotates so you can view your work in portrait form as opposed to landscape).  Assuming this is the case, try right-clicking anywhere on the desktop, select properties, and go to the settings tab.  There should be an option here to change it back.

Forgot to mention...the most common software that lets you do this is PivotPro. See http://personalcomputing.portrait.com/us/products/pp_documentation.html#tips

for advice on how to uninstall it (if you have it) because i assume as you didn't know what it was you don't want it!

Ha...alternatively just turn your monitor on its side and live with it!

Nothing relating to rotation on Settings, and I don't have PivotPro installed... I would rather not live with the other suggestion, but thanks anyway...

Try on the desktop screen pressing <ctrl><alt>and <up>

Thank You CT !!!  Although, how it happened in the first place is a bit odd.
