I always find it ludicrous when companies say that because x number of people download something that means they have lost all of that income (ie Britney Spears album 1000 download but album costs £8, they lose £8000). Clicking on your mouse a few times with no cost is infinitely different to parting with cash. The decision is a no brainer for many younger people.
If anything MS will lose out on the yearly X Box live subscription. A milllion x £39.99 isn't small change.
Maybe if games were reduced in price, or they cut out the overhype of games such as Beatles Rockband the youngsters wouldn't feel the need to get everything to keep up with their friends.
The only downloaders I have a beef with are those that can afford to buy or those you see at Markets on a Friday flogging pirated versions.

There would be no folks at sunday markets selling the pirated versions if there weren't customers to buy them.

I agree wholeheartedly with daffy654, I must admit to not feeling sympathy for those who buy or download pirated games.
I buy new games for my son at full price or pre-owned at discounted price. It is still a lot of money however he takes great care of them and participates in an exchange scheme run by a local gaming shop.
Yes, there is pressure to have the latest game as soon as it is released but unless it is a birthday or Christmas present he usually saves towards it.

Funny how the only people defending the modding and illegal copying of games are those who have previously condoned the practice,and even promoted it on answerbank before.
Anyone who copies or buys a pirated game is breaking the law,that means they are criminals!
It is virtually no different to going to HMV (or another games shop) and shoplifting the game/film/CD.
