Well, that's daft ! I couldn't put my question in !!

Does crucial.com just pick up info on RAM already installed, or does it take other factors into account, ie. motherboard, CPU speed, etc. ?
it's pretty reliable, I've heard of one or two stories when it's got it wrong, but it is rare.

all these questions about RAM, the most reliable way of finding out id to take out whats already in the computer and look to see if it has a sticker on it saying what it is, then just buy RAM of the same type.

Yeah, I know this is getting boring, but it's a right royal pain in the wotsit for me, believe me !
Anyway, suddenly dawned on me why I can't find Packard Bell details - it wasn't "off the shelf" ! I told guy at PC shop (recommended by friend) what spec I wanted and he put it together - doh !
Looked at crucial re my Compaq and the info they've given for my spec is all wrong. They say 2 slots - it's 4. They say 2GB max, I know it's 4GB. Not impressed. But thanks anyway :o)
