Please can anyone help? I have bought the USA and Canada maps for my Tom Tom one XL. I have downloaded them to the SD card that has been backed up and restored but when I insert the SD card into the tom tom it doesn't give me the option to switch to the USA maps even though I know they are on the card. What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks in advance

I'm not an expert but do you need to be in the USA for the maps to work?
As a hunch it sounds like it needs a reboot. On my Tom Tom you hold the start key down for 15 seconds

Thanks for the answers - I will try to reboot. I honestly don't know if you need to be in the country where the map is for but it's possible I suppose. Thanks again!
no you don't need to be there

when you say you downloaded it ... do you mean you used the tom tom home 2 prog?

for me it downloaded registered - everything - it just worked

then backed up the whole lot with tthome2 just in case

on the device
the maps should be in a folder on the root called something like North_America_and_Canada
(don't quote me on that)

Thanks - yes I did it from Tom tom Home and you can see the file that has gone onto the card but when you put the card in the TT it only gives the UK and Ireland map choice.
Really don't know what to do.
I recently downloaded France on to my Tom Tom XL I found to get it to work you have to go to change preferences then manage maps then switch maps then highlight the country.
failing that - contact tomtom
