Email sending problem using eM Client Software

Hi there as I could not setup email on Outlook exp so I downloaded this free software. It looks exactly like out look exp but it did setup my email easily. I have my domain name for the business and that is what I would be using this software (email) for. Problem is that I am able to receive emails in it straightaway but I have been trying sending email to my own hotmail account (personal email) and although when I press send, it goes but email is not appearing into hotmail. And this software is not giving me any error message either. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked your hotmail spam folder?
have you checked the junk mail folder in hotmail?

Firstly try sending an email to yourself (so send a mail from eM client to the address you have setup in eM client) to see if you receive that back, if you do then your mail settings in the client are correct.

if you are successful in sending a mail to yourself then check with whoever is hosting your domains emails that they have setup a few things to ensure that your emails will be delivered to everyone, firstly you will require reverse DNS (otherwise known as a PTR record) on your mail server, secondly it's a wise move to ensure that your mail servers DNS entries have a SPF record (Sender Policy Framework record) associated with them.

without both the above in place a lot of the larger mail organisations, such as hotmail, Gmail, AOL, etc will not accept emails from your domain.

It all sounds very complicated I know, but as long as the first test of sending a mail to yourself works then the next steps are something you will need to take up with the support people for whoever is hosting your email.

I just tried and my first step did not work. I sent an email to thesame address (from and to) and it is there under "sent" but nothing came into "in box".
I'm not familier with Em client at all, so have just had to install it :)

I notice it tries to setup everything its self! which has probably got at least one thing wrong then.

Click on the tools menu, then account, select the account you want to change (probably the only one there) then click on the SMTP tab on the right side panel.

under the server section set the host to be your ISP's SMTP (outgoing) mail server, it will be called something like "smtp.yourisp.net"

if you are not sure what this server name should be post your ISP (tiscali, talk talk, whoever) and I'll find out and tell you.

also in the bottom section make sure anonymous is selected.

once those details are changed click OK and try sending to your self again.

Chuckficken -If I had a choice of giving you more than 3 stars, I would have done that. After my last post I phoned my webhosting help line. And that guy while going through with me asked me to change smpt in outgoing system. And after that it started working.

But I would give you all the credit as you spent the time of downloading and spot the same problem. I myself woud have never found it and yes you are right it sets it up automatically which is an advantage for someone like me but there you go if something goes wrong then you can't find it. But still it might have done many more things right that I couldn't have done myself.
