Time allotted to adverts since digital switchover

Isle of Man (where I live) has gone over to digital TV as of 16th July. Am I right in thinking that even the former two terrestrial commercial channels (ITV &C4) have longer commercial breaks, and more frequent ones since switchover? My partner says that they are subject to the same hourly limitations, but are using them differently because of an easing of the regulations by OFCOM. The effect to this viewer is 'Adverts already, and for so long?'.

As far as I know, a maximum of 12 minutes of commercials are allowed per hour of peak-time viewing.

This does not include trailers for other TV programmes, continuity announcements and station identity which do account for quite a few minutes in total sometimes.
