What is wrong with my Pace Twin HD recorder?

I have had my Pace Twin HD recorder for just under a year, and it developed a habit of randomly returning recordings which were "empty" (i.e no recorded content), and now I am getting recordings which play back OK for a while then the picture "freezes" but the sound continues to run and the elapsed time clock keeps clocking up. I have tried re-initialising the hard disk, but after a while the problem returns. Has anyone else had this problem?
