copy video to dvd via TVscreen?

I have a Phillips DVD Recorder with a Sony  Video Recorder both connected to my Sony TV via scart leads.The DVD records great direct from TV.

If the video is put into AU mode I can watch video on TV   screen but  unable to copy onto DVD .This Learner would appreciate advice on correct settings  .
