gameboy color

I have bought gameboy color on ebay for my 6 year-old.  He has only borrowed friends' games so far so is quite inexperienced. Can anyone recommend a search for a game type for him to try and has it got to say 'color' to be compatible?  Am confused!!

According to Nintendo any gameboy game (with or without colour) can be played on the Gameboy Color (But not Gameboy Advance games).
