would a BlueRay dvd play ok on a normal dvd player.or are they two different formats. many thanks.

Seriously!!

Yes they are different formats, a normal dvd player will not play blueray discs!

the mistake your making is calling it a blueray DVD.

it's not a DVD, it's a blu-ray disk, they are entirely different standards in the same way as CD's and DVD's are

Blu-ray is the latest and while a blu-ray player will play the older standards you can't go forward in time and expect an old player to play a new format.
