My proview flatscreen monitor has built in speakers, but what ever I do I can't get them to work.

Pc doesn't even think it has an audio device.

What should I do?

Might be a silly question, but have you connected the audio cable from the computer to the monitor? and is it in the right socket (line out)?

yep, pc just doesn't recognise it has an audio device.

If pc doesn't recognise it has an audio device, then the problem is with your soundcard and not the speakers.

If your souncard is a PCI slot, make sure you have up to date drivers. If it is part of the motherboard, make sure the drivers are all installed.

And then buy yourself a decent set of speakers as the ones incorporated in Proview monitors sound terrible.
You need to reinstall the soundcard drivers.
