Type a Word Document and leave no trace on machine.

I want to type a word document (using word 97) and will save it from beginning on a rw cd ...once i have finished the doc  and removed the cd from the drive will there be any trace of the doc (in back up file) left on the hard disc drive? Sometimes I see word back up dat files ...... or is there a better way to leave absolutely no trace??
