camcorder issue

Hi i want to get a new camcorder, but am a little confused. they all seem to save as different types of files. i want to know if you can simple plug it into the laptop or put the flash card into the laptop and downlaod it and edit it into adobe premiere without having to downlaod other software or convert it further.

what ones are the best around at the mo.i am lookign for mid range.
