any suggestions for no frills basic idiot proof mobile phone with sensible sized buttons for an elderly person..

Nokia pay as you go about �15 with �5 free calls
This is a great phone and large. No camera and although it can receive text messages, it can't send them.

If you can cope with normal size buttons and don't need an extra loud ringer, this is an excellent basic and easy to use phone, for under �18.

I'll vouch for that - & 2 quid cheaper than when I bought it
My Nokia 1600 will take some beating for a no-frills mobile, good sized buttons, fairly large text, no camera and an excellent loudspeaker for us hard of hearing.
Can be bought second hand for about �10 - �15, but they are not that expensive if you want new.
