A GUI (Graphical User Interface) is just your standard Windows or Linux Operating system. A GUI O/S has things like icons, mouse cursor and GRAPHICS. A command line O/S like Novell for example does not have any of the above, Command Promt is a case of command line interface.

Errr... a GUI uses a mouse and is graphical; a CLI system uses a keyboard typing commands on a command line.

I actually prefer CLI systems - far more flexible, accurate and easy to reproduce than using a GUI, however "friendly" it appears to be.
