Bluetooth "pairing codes"

Hi there

Odd question coming up!

I just acquired (ebay) a Bluetooth printer adapter

Snag is, nowhere in the documentation is there any mention of a pairing code

Before I head to refund-land(!) I was wondering if there was a "standard" default pairing code for Bluetooth devices

I've tried 0000 and 1234 - no luck

I really would like to get it working, but without this code I'm stuffed

It does have a couple of stickers - one shows the MAC address and the other the serial number (I tried both of these too just in case!)

All suggestions (well helpful ones anyway) gratefully received

Thanks

the standard code for most things is 0000, which you've already tried.

if you post the make and model of the adaptor then someone maybe able to find the default code, but if it has been changed by the previous owner (if it's second hand) then that won't help.

Have you tried emailing the seller and asking them?

Yeah, the seller is "looking into it" but says "no-one else has had a problem" (implying it's my fault perhaps!)

Make & model...

Hmmm - It's a generic one - no sign of a make or model. The installation CD (which is only two PDFs of instructions (neither of which even mentions pairing)) calls it a "BT Printer Combo Adapter BT-0260"

It has a USB and a parallel interface

It's exactly like THIS one (which is NOT the seller I bought from, but is an on-going auction for the same thing (so far as I can tell)) - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wireless-Bluetooth-Dongl e-USB-Parallel-Printer-Adapter_W0QQitemZ180312 950964QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Cables_Adapters?h ash=item180312950964&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trk parms=72%3A1300%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318

Sorry I can't give any more info

There doesn't seem to BE any way to change the code - certainly there is no Admin-type interface to it

it's got a reset button on the side next to the power input, put power to it and stick something in the hole for the reset button and hold it down for 10seconds (it will probably flash all the lights when it resets) and try again.
Question Author
Nope - no difference on 0000 or 1234 :(

I either get "Pairing request was rejected by the remote device" or, when I try an install a printer, "Operation cannot be performed on the devide in it's current state"

Rats

have you tried no code?

Looks like you can set the code yourself

Wow - That looks really useful

But....

My adapter did NOT come with a utility CD and it doesn't look like you can download it from anywhere either :(
