Don't laugh, but the cat decided to lie down on my keyboard.and activated the 'filter key' (what IS it? ). Now I not only cannot. repeatedly hit keys,but there is a very annoying sound as I type. How do I disable it?

We are going to need a separate "fix things my cat has done" heading in technology soon :)

Hold down the right hand shift key for 8 seconds and take the ticks out of all the boxes in the windows that pops up.

LOL chuck.....NO window came up-and all I got was a strange 'bleep'.......the icon remains-but the annoying behaviour has ended. Thanks!

If you want to get rid of the icon in your system tray, go to 'Start->Control Panel->Accessibility Options. That should display the 'keyboard' tab. Uncheck the 'Filterkeys' box, click 'Apply' then 'ok'.
