Windows messanger pop up error

Every day my Vaio opens with the window to sign to Messenger. Once I had signed in Ialways used to get a small pop up -about 4" square that had several tabs on so I could go to see what was in my hotmail acct, see news etc. Now all i get is a error pop up saying 'a is null or not an object. Any ideas please?
