using hdmi on my sony laptop

hi i have a new fw11e sony laptop and wanted to plug in my tv using the hdmi cable. now on my old laptop i could change how it displayed..

ie. shows on both screen splits it or only on hte lugged in one. i cannot see how to make it just appear on the plugged in device. does nayone have any ideas

Usually, with laptops, you would hold down your Function button (FN), then hit F4 (or whatever button has what looks like a monitor screen on it).

You can change between having the picture only on the laptop, on both the tv and the laptop or just the tv.

Make sure to change the power settings so that the laptop wont go into stand by mode if you close the lid.
