I am think of replacing my iPod with an iTouch, but then it occurred to me, should I simply get an iPhone instead in order to avoid having to carry an iPod and a mobile.

Is the iPod facility on the iPhone as good as the iTouch?

Very confused!

Thanks

That's entirely up to you.

Some prefer to have two gadgets, others like to consolidate and just have one.

I have an iPhone myself. It has every single feature the iPod touch has.

Your only issues will be what your current phone has that the iPhone lacks. It doesn't do (yet, anyway), MMS picture messaging. But you can send and receive pictures via email. You can't (yet, anyway) forward text messages.
Also with an iPhone you get a very cut down bluetooth functionality and a relatively poor camera by most of todays phones standard.

And it's huge for a phone!
I'd agree with Chuck on those two points too.

If you use a camera a lot -- especially for anything close up -- then don't get the iPhone. It just doesn't cut it. But in bright daylight focusing on subjects a fair distance away, it's great. No good for ebay though.

I don't find the size any issue at all. It's smaller than every regular iPod made, and it does the phone stuff too.

It can connect to a bluetooth headset, but that's about its functionality. You can't send and receive files with it.

But also worth mentioning is the huge amount of software available for it -- many for free. Games, all sorts.

But really the main reason for having the iPhone is to use as a mobile internet device. It allows me to just carry the iPhone when previously I may have needed a laptop.
That is your choice but I can say that I think it's a good idea to have the iphone to double as a mobile and an ipod . x
