My son had one of these for his birthday recently. Do i need to buy a hard drive to enable him to save more than a couple of games please? he won't be playing on line, btw. Thanks.

Thank you. Wish we'd known about that beforehand, but we'll now get one.
It's not massively neccessary to buy a hard drive - I'm sure all arcade consoles come with a 256mb memory card for game saves, mine certainly did!

Check all the stuff you got in the box and you might find it.

Heres an image for reference:

Hope this works for you, you'll end up saving a few quid!

Woah ^

Never seen that before :)

Think they might come with 512mb cards now.

but if you do want a hard drive you can get the 20gb kit for about 40quid online from places like amazon
To add to that...

It obviously depends how much you need to save (memory-wise, not cash). A hard drive is great for downloading the online content, but seeing as he won't need be going online it might not be worth it!

I still use a 20gb hard drive from my previous 360 that broke, I have about 7gb left, but the 13gb in use is taken up by downloads and extra content, not game saves.

Thank you. I appreciate all the help.
Yes, there was a 256mb memory card in the box. My son was 9 last Sunday, and won't be going online for any gaming purposes, but the reason I asked on AB was because I was told that this wouldn't be enough for his game saves. The gaming's actually therapeutic for my son, who suffers with autism, because of the concentration and coordination that's required during play, so I may have to consider getting a hard drive later on. I've no idea how many games can be saved on the current card, but if a hard drive becomes necessary, then I'll check out Amazon. Thanks once again. Very kind of you.
