My father (mid 70s) has decided he needs a sat nav system.

Whilst his driving's fine he's not the world's greatest computer user

Can anyone suggest a model with most user friendly interface, limited options etc. without small fiddly buttons.

I have a TomTom and NavMan is also good; they come at a decent price too. The best price is at Halfords! Good luck! :)
Garmin streetpilot c510

100 E-bay.
My local Maplins have been doing the Tomtom One at 99 and that will be simple enough for the old boy to use but before you give it to him you will need to update it and then you will get all the latest maps for free....
it's got to be tomtom
from a usability point of view - they are mostly all easy to use ... best advice would be a trip to halfords or PC world and let him have a play.

however - they are a distraction - and require eyes that can refocus from distance to close and back pretty quickly

on motorways you have time to react - but in a strange town in rush hour - you don't.

it's your call

u suck daffy

queen - so did you pay for it - or "borrow" it?
We have a Garmin 660. It is really simple to use, choose the address function on screen, type in postcode, choose address and off you go. It has a large screen and speaks the road names (not all of them do). They are a distraction, so you need to be sure your father is switched on enough to use it. My father is 72 and I think I would rather he concentrated on the road!

Thanks for those - some really good starting points to check out.

I have a sneaky feeling I may be "inheriting" it when it gets tossed in the bin ;c) That's Christmas!
