I have just received my new Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and love it!
Not being able to get broadband any other way, I use mobile broadband with it. Great sound and picture quality.
The slightly disconcerting thing I'm getting used to is its totally silent operation - I mean no disc whirring.
My old laptop had a 20Gb hard drive and this has a 16Gb SSD which I feel will be ample as I use extra 8Gb cards in its card slot or via USB ports.
You haven't told us what you want to do with your notebook

Do you want a teeny one with a small screen?
What do you intend using it for?

The Acer Aspire One has excellent reviews in the Linux version.

Does it have to have XP?
So I assume you want a mini notebook?

I'd go for the Asus EEE pc 1000H.

I have one (running Ubuntu, but it comes with XP), and they're great! Better value than the Dell and Acer your mention above too (6 cell battery, for example).
you get more space and features with the Acer Aspire One, whereas the HP one is a beautiful one, I would go for HP :)
Dell give good after sales service and most of their computers run a 'shadow', very useful in a crash. Make sure your final choice burns CDs, if needed.
