Surround sound but no picture

Have just purchased a Samsung Home Cinema System. After following instructions can get sound only through the DVD player.Cannot get a picture when the dvd player is in use. When cable box is on , cannot get sound through the speakers only through tv. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hmmm, with mine, i had it 2 ways.
First i had a scart splitter and put them all into one, hooked up to it.
Second way i had it direct from the tv, and my cable box and dvd and tv worked ok with it.
Cant understand whats up with yours.
If its a 2 way scart check its on output.
By the sounds of it though, it seems you havent got your cable going innthe right places for all your equipment.
When your dvd player gets no pic, try switchong channel to AV or another one.

Have you checked the PAL setting? Some machines have a switch to change it.

You will need to press the AV button on your TV remote to switch between the scart leads, one of the scart leads goes to the cable box, the other one will go to the DVD,
