I burn photos as data disks so that they can be viewed on a dvd player. Been doing this successfully with the same software for 3 years but now when I burn photos they don't show on the dvd player, only the pc. Any ideas?

Can I just add that I have not changed anything on the software - I am doing exactly what I have been doing so it's a complete mystery. Tried different dvd players, different software and different discs - still the same problem!
do the ones you've know are (were) good still show OK?

which os / dc creation prog?
are you using videocd format? - if not which

Is this the sort of process you use?

All the discs I've done in the past are still fine. My OS is XP and I just burn the photos as a data disc (not a slideshow) and don't finalise as I add others. The reason I do this is basically to show my mum photos that my sis send from abroad. It's been fine for the past 3 years so I'm flummoxed!
Do any of your older discs still work? If not, maybe the laser in your DVD player has decided it doesn't like rewritable discs.

My older discs still work. I'm not using rewritable discs. Could this be a driver problem? But then the info is being burned as it's fine on the pc. This is driving me mad!
unfortunately ... It's still no clearer
I'm surprised an older player shows .JPGs .... but I don't doubt you.
Is there an error message?

cd/dvd actually uses a wide array of formats - normally without you seeing any difference.

starting with the least likely it could be the firmware in either the recorder or the player (you'd expect other errors if it was the recorder).

it could be a dodgy laser that's just dropped the intensity just enough not to read (or write)

it could be a windows update (can't see much in google ... so that seems unlikely

it could be the prog that's been upgraded

finally (and quite likely)
you've got a duff batch of discs.
easiest to try first ... try some new discs (different brand)
