I hope someone here can help me out with installation of my new mouse. I just bought a new Razer Diamondback 3G mouse and i'm trying to use it on a Vista system, all the documents that came with the device say it works on Vista and so does the website of the manufacturer. When I try to install it Windows tells me that it has failed and to download updated drivers, when I do that it still doesn't work! Any ideas anyone???

first question is did you install the driver BEFORE inserting the mouse?
(it sounds odd ... but it's how most USB devices like it)

look for the mouse in device manager
delete the entry
remove the mouse (you should be able to plug an alternative one
reboot (still using the other mouse)
remove any razer software
reboot
install the razer software.
reboot
remove the alt mouse ....
insert the razer
windows should detect and install (fingers crossed)

you shouldn't have to do all this ... but if the install messes up - it's a pain - but reasonably reliable.

..... you could try sys restore ... but I'd do it this way first

I have tried doing that,I have also tried 4 different drivers from the Razer site with no joy.I spent almost 2 hours trying everything I know except a system restore(has caused me problems before).I am completely stumped by this one and am waiting for tech support at Razer to get back to me after I emailed them,I just thought the brains here might have a solution :-)
me too on system restore

you'd have thought there would be more info on the net if it was widespread though.

have you tried driver rollback?
