can anyone advise a surefire way to get rid of trayapp from a computer? it came from nowhere and is giving me rsi from hitting the cancel button. msconfig doesn't work (the startup fails to appear) and neither does putting in the hp disc.

You have a HP printer.

You need to reinstall the software using the original cd .

i've tried that. it refuses to either uninstall or reinstall.

some things to check
does printer work?
have you got a print job "stuck" in the queue?
can you remove the printer from the list of available ones

try switching the printer on so windows recognises it - then try to uninstall.

what ver of windows?
which printer

windows vista. hp photosmart 8050 printer. yes, it works fine. no print job stuck in queue. wouldnt know how to remove it from list of available ones. i've tried every which way to uninstall. no joy.

try downloading the vista drivers

and try the latest version ...

to remove the printer

start | control panel | printers
just delete the entry.

just a thought ... you did install the vista driver and not the XP?
