Cant play movies from PC to HDTV

Hi

I have got a few home movies on my pc that i want to play through my LG HDTV, got all the leads and everything is fine apart from trying to play these movies on the TV, it just goes purple, windows media player layout is fine but the video window is just purple. It's also fine on my monitor, just want to see things bigger.
(P.S, things like you tube work fine)

PC running XP
I.E 7
Nvidia Geforce 5200 256mb
756mb ram

Any help will be great

connect your tv to your network via Ethernet or wifi dongle then use nero media home it should be on the disks that came with the tv.
