I was hoping to buy a new camcorder and would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of the different storage mediums on them?

I current lu own 3 differnt cameras.

sony hi8
sony dvd
sony hd 40 gb

i obviosly went from my old hi8 to the dvd one first as the hi8 one now looks like something Del Trotter would sell on the market, it was quite small at the time of puurchase though.

After a about 18 months i then decided to upgrade again to a version with a hard disc drive due to the dvds lack of capacity which is only 30 minutes (60 on LP) or 60 - 120 mins for a double sis=ded dvd.

Thanks,
My last camcorder used a 1 hour tape and that was superceded by the DVD. But that only lasted a short time before they were pushing the plug in cards. I had a CD player for music and every jolt and it played badly, I wondered if the same would happen with the DVD. If the problems only applied to the storage capacity I could fathom it out but its the other problems that may occur I am doubtful about.
