I have an account with BT, but also have my own domain. (I think that's the right word - sorry, I'm not very technically minded). Anyway, the email address I usually use is the one attached to my domain, but I recently added another name to my BT account in order to send and receive messages via that if necessary, and now although I am still able to receive messages via the domain name, I cannot send them that way. Can anyone tell me what's wrong - and how I can cure the problem. I hope this makes sense. I'm sorry if it's confusing. Technology and me are not the best of friends - but I would be very grateful for any advice you can give. It's pretty frustrating. Many thanks.

I used to have a similar setup with freeserve. My main address was [email protected] and I sent and received emails via that address.

If someone sent an email addressed to fred@[email protected], I would still receive it because my 'domain' (or whatever it is called) was the @bloggs199.freeserve.co.uk part. Any email I sent however, always went from [email protected].

Is this what you are describing? If so and you are using MS Outlook, I don't know that there is a way round it without changing your email settings everytime you want to send an email from the other account.

Maybe some expert will come along and correct me in a minute...

Sammy, Thank you so much for trying to help. I'll try to explain a little more.

I have an email address - Jo [email protected]

My personal domain is MyHome.co.uk, to which my emails come, via BT, addressed to [email protected]

In addition to Jo [email protected], I've now set up [email protected] which works perfectly well sending and receiving....

.... but since I set that up, I can receive email to [email protected], but can't send email from that address.

I use Outlook Express.

I really would be most grateful for any advice.
it sounds like when you setup your new address that got set as the default, to change this to what ever account you want

Select Tools | Accounts... from the menu.
On the Mail tab, highlight the desired account.
Click Set as Default.
Now click Close.

Now when you click create mail it will be sent from the account you set as default
