Nokia Music Manager has taken my mp3's!

I have Nokia Music Manager installed on my pc for my Nokia N95. I keep all my music in one file on my pc and when I open that file I have noticed that about 20% of my mp3's are now "Nokia Music Manager" files and not mp3, even though I haven't used NMM to play or convert them. When I wanted to burn a mp3 disc using Nero I couldn't access the NMM files, only the mp3 ones and I can't work out how to convert them back to mp3. I've checked the Nokia forum and also looked on itunes but that only lets me convert my mp3's to aac. Help, I'm really stuck. Thanks
