Can i Jailbreak/Unlock my iphone before i activate it with o2 ?

Well i,ve had my iphone for a few weeks now and im not allowed to activate it with o2 before my current contract finishes, Is there a way i can unlock it without o2 which wont void the warrenty with o2 and therefore muck up my contract ?

If you want to keep the same number that you're using now, you'll need to wait for your old contract to end (or pay the other operator up front for how much time you have left with them).
