Appearing offline when signing in to Messenger

Is it possible to appear offline when you sign in to Messenger at first. I know you can alter your status after you are signed in but wondered was it possible to appear offline when you are automatically signed in.

Yes you can if you mean windows live messenger. I have to be signed out at the time and then open the messenger window and there is a little drop down thingy that says "sign in as" just below the password box.

Thanks for fast answer Daffy654 but that just signs me in automatically. I am using Windows Live Messenger. I want to sign in automatically still but to appear offline until I decide I want others to know I am online. I definitely saw this answered but have looked everywhere but can't find it.

sign out, that will take you back to the sign in screen, then select sign in as appear offline and sign in again and it will keep the setting so next time live starts it will sign in as offline

Thanks Markysngc, got it now. Knew it was there somewhere but being a silver surfer just couldn't figure it out.
