laptop to tv connection query

i have downloaded a film onto my laptop but sound is not good.What is the best way to watch it through my tv without putting it on a dvd.i know i could connect s video to s video and have another lead with a headphone jack on one end with a red and white audio plugs on.but is there a tidier way to do this and where do i purchase them, maybe online...hope this reads clear...

You've pretty much got it all ready, s video and audio leads are what you need. not really a tidier way to do it

d/load VirtualDub which is free and re-encode the movie with the sound adjusted/tweaked to your taste

hi markysngc you seem to know what you are talking about can you or anyone answer this. the s video socket on my laptop has 7 pins ans svideo on tv has 4.if i can get a lead for this will istill need the headphone jack etc.

yes you will still need the audio leads, there is never any audio sent over s-video, the standard 4 pin connector should fit into your laptop and work fine even though the laptop has 7pins.

The extra pins on the laptop port carry a different video format (composite) which is a lower quality then s-video.
