i reinstalled windows xp yesterday and whilst running the disc to install my modem i got a warning telling me that i did not have enough physical memory (it said I had 96 and needed 128). I checked system on control panel and it shows 96mb of ram. How can i find out how much i should really have and will this cause me problems in the future?

Thanks

the only way to be certain is to open the box and look.

the minimum is 64k ... so it will install (it must have been verrrrrry slow)

if that's all the machine has makes me wonder if you'd be better with 98 or even 2000.

you could put some more in there (256 would be a good amount - on an older machine best not to get too adventurous!).

the problem is what slots you have free.

might be better nipping down to a local mender and get them to bob a bit in - (get a quote first!)

64k?????????
