Hi guys please could someone help me, how do i remove norton it was already on the laptop when it was purchased. It's my mums laptop and i know as much as i go and download the symantec removal tool i had a look at the said website but it's saying something about a product key on the cd there is no cd so can someone explain how i go about it. It took me ages to talk my mum into getting a laptop and i want to be able to show her how easy things could be i want norton off and to use pc guard that way she doesn't really need worry bout whats going on with her protection and get surfing lol. Many thanks as ever x Or Better still tell me how to system restore a brand new laptop to before it was installed how do i know what date to put in? x

On the Symantec website, which you refer to, it does indeed state "Save your Product Key . . .".

However, on the next line, it then says "You may need your Product Key when you reinstall your Norton product".

You've no intention of reinstalling Norton, so you don't need the product key. Simply double-click the icon for the removal tool and follow the instructions. Then install your choice of security software.
