Last night while I was watching Ashes to Ashes I was reminded that I had a suit like that smarmy property developer in 1981.

Last weeks episode featured a s guy wearing a shiny suit, and yes, I had one of those too, in my defence, every good looking lad about town had one ;-)

Anyone else want to confess to 80's fashion disasters?

Tartan jeans - ouch!
Also lots of little leather wristband things like A-ha used to wear.
Thankfully this co-incided with my phase of refusing to get my photo taken.
Well I was only 6 at the time but my favourite outfit was purple shiney cycling shorts and vest top with lime stars on it. I wore this after I grew too big for my polka dot ra-ra skirt.

Mum made me wear some tartan trousers, she said I looked cute, but when were on holiday one of the red coats thought I had come in fancy dress as a clown so I think they were probably the worst.
I once wore a tshirt i made out of a black bin liner, does that count?

I have to hold my hands up and admit to being a fashion victim in the 80's. I had:
Big hair
Big shoulder pads
Jackets with the sleeves pushed up
A pink boiler suit
A purple boilersuit with batwing sleeves
Large, cheap items of jewellery
Makeup like Coco the clown.
An erroneous belief I looked like one of Bananarama

My photo's from those days have my kids in stitches

Did you wear that lot all at once mrs_overall?

I'd have paid good money to see that lol
Name your best offer and I'll post the pics to you in a plain brown envelope!
Surely my tartan jeans are worth at least one star? : (
If I throw in my velvet pedal pushers, frilly blouse and 'wake me up before you go go' t-shirt, then can I have one?

No-one who wore tartan jeans deseves any stars, but I'll give you two for the rest ;-)
Mrs O, as a child of the 80s I see it as our right to laugh hysterically at the fashion faux pas of our parents. My dad sported a rather attractive looking perm and had highlights and owned a shell suit. He looked like a Harry Enfield scouser :-)
ooh can we bring our parents into it too? my dad wears either trackie bottoms or jeans with his slippers and a flat cap. He goes to the shops/pub/cafe for his breakfast like this. He is nearly 70 though so suppose he can get away with it lol
Thank you, 4GS
As a reward for your kindness I will look out the photo of me in my Nik Kershaw t' shirt and snood.

Remember the ties that looked like piano keyboards? Now they were classy..
lol Natalie.

I forgot to mention I used to wear specs and had loads of pairs in every colour under the sun. The frames were huge, like Su Pollard used to wear in HiDeHi.

What did I look like!
Pix, that was my dad in the 80s, I thought it would count.

I saw a pic of him in the 70s and I asked my mu if it was her friend Sharon (he had long hair and a medallion).

He had a tache in the 80s too.

4GS, did you have an 80s tache? Do you still have one?

Yes I did, not a 'porn star' type of moustache, just one that made me look old enough to get served in a pub.

It's gone now that I can order a pint without being asked to provide I.D
You mean to say they are taches that dont look like the owner is a porn star? LOL

I'm thinking Miami Vice stylee :-)
