Google split screen

Every time I do a search with Google I find that the screen is automatically split, the left-hand portion showing the regular Google screen and the right hand portion showing 'Server application unavailable'. I am unable to close this portion of the window down. I have cleared previous Google problems using CWShredder and Spybot. How can I get rid of this current, irritating problem?

check that your "hosts" file isnt directing you to somewhere that isnt google - you find this (on xp) in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc )

i suppose you can test this by going to a different google site like www.google.co.uk or www.google.ie/
