Would you be able to play a blu ray disc through an amp/receiver which decodes hdmi dvd etc?

Not sure of your question dennilson but I hope this helps.

I have a PS3 linked optically to my Sony Amp. When I play a blue ray DVD on the PS3 the DTS or 5.1 soundtrack is channeled optically through my amp and is excellant and of better quality as I'm told in the blurb it's not compressed ?!?!?!? The HDMI lead provides sound to the TV but I've opted through the DVD options to chanel the sound optically instead of through HDMI to my TV.

So I think the answer is Yes !!
