free antivirus protection

I have loaded the AVG free anti virus protection and I have found that it has slowed my computer right down does any one know of a free fast programme I could load thanks.

AVG has never slowed my computer down.

You are not running more than one Anti Virus program are you, or maybe running a number of security programs.

I am running Firewall and PC tools spyware doctor I dont think I have anything else except Norton scanner ??

Norton is probable half of the problem. I would recommend uninstalling it and sticking with AVG or Avast for an antivirus and Crap Cleaner (also known as ccleaner) to get rid of the rest of the junk. Spybot and Ad-Aware are other options to consider.

which norton scanner .... by any chance ... norton's VIRUS scanner?
you only need one virus scanner and one firewall
sort our which you like best .... and stick with that one ONLY

I had a similar problem and part of the solution was finding an additional little program on the web to completely uninstall Norton AV, which apparently hides under the sofa inside your pc. Figuratively speaking.
