it sounds like you may have a firewall running.
in the bottom left hand corner, there should be an indicator of how good your download is running.

how do i get rid of the firewall

i dont know !!!
it could be one of your security servers thats blocking it, or it could be a microsoft firewall.
right click over the wall and see what it tells you.
