I have an Exilim EX-Z750 which has been a good camera for a few years but yesterday while in use it has 'frozen' with the lens extended. Does anyone know how to fix this or must I sent it back to the makers?

It's a known fault with some of the earlier batches that were produced.

I have the same camera, with the same fault. It happens so rarely though, that it's not important.

It seems to happen if there's the slightly bit of flint on the side of the lens, and when you fully extend it (especially in macro focus). Rarely seems to happen though.

fo3nix thanks for your reply, but it is important as I cannot use my camera at present.
To recover, I just turn the camera off in the normal way. Turning it on again usually recovers it.

Then get a soft cloth and wipe the sides of the lens units, to remove any small bits of lint that may have gotten in there.

Does that work?

I'm afraid not. I've tried it but I can get no response, just a bleap, then nothing.
My suggestion would either be to keep trying it, or take it to a camera shop and see if anyone can help.

I can't see Casio wanting to know though, since it's way past its warranty (unless you took an extended one?). Worth trying perhaps though.

fo3nix, you may be interested to hear the end of this story.
I was packing the Casio to send it to the Camera Clinic and as I wrappe it in bubble wrap - lo and behold - a miracle happened and it shut itself down. For the time being that is.

Good!

(Just thought; I assume you tried opening the battery catch to take the battery out? Taking it out then putting it back in again may work too -- just note that you may lose pictures on the SD card.)

I never really have issues with it. I find that it happens if I extend the lens fully and it can't focus on the object it's pointing at.
