I've recently bought a new HP T550 pc (minus the monitor) for 600 & the spec is very good (if you look on a website). I am now wondering whether I should have bought a Dell as they're offering high spec pc's with flat screen monitor all in, at very good prices. I am still within the 14 day return date for a refund - so what would you do please?

I know this might not help much but when I bought my new pc the first thing I done was stopped looking at all the ads for new pc's, it will only ever leave you with the feeling if only ..... They are only get better, faster, cheaper. I've had my new pc for nearly 2 years now, so it's old and slow by todays standards but it still does the job and I haven't spent 2yrs thinking if only I ....

(told you wouldn't be much help!

Thing with Dell is they have good headline prices but when you dig a little deeper you find out that its more expensive than most other companies. Thats because they make all PC's to order. So the head line would be Dell 2.0Ghz 256RAM 100GB Hard drive. But you will discover it doesnt have good video RAM only a single DVD/CD writter etc etc. I'd stick with what you have.
I have had my HP Pavilion for five years. I added a CD burner, a couple of extra USB ports and went from about 12 GB, I think, to 80 GB and it is running beautifully. I only wish I had XP instead of 98, but that will come.
I'd avoid Dell, like the plague. I went down, zombie like, into the Dell road. Unfortunatly, their deals are too good to be true. Enjoy the PC you've got. as Ms Tools said, if you keep looking at the ads you'll only torment yourself. I have a ZX81 with 16kb expansion pack, if that makes you feel better!

Thank you all so much for your replies, I feel so much more at ease after reading them. I had been going thro all the PC mag's & Internet, torturing my brain as to which PC I should have bought! The local college have Dell PC's, but the in-house tech's do say Dell do not like them fixing them, obviously 'cos they're losing out! 123cheyenne 4, I'm glad you've been happy with your HP Pavillion, that's a relief & you've definitely made my mind up Headtime! I now sit contented as my new PC purrs away in the background! Cheers! :-)
