Can anybody tell me if it is possible to scan my signature and the add it to a word document,to save me having to print the document then sign it and then scan it back in...

Certainly, just scan your signature, save it as a jpeg then choose "insert picture" when you want to use it.
Yes, it is.

Scan it in and save the image as a .jpg file. When you want to include it in a word document, click insert>picture>from file. That should bring you to a folders window from where you can choose the file you want to insert. It works in just the same way as adding a non-clipart picture to your document.

Or go 1 step further and convert the scan to a truetype font
