When I was a lad (late 50's/early 60's) our record player had 4 speeds - 78, 45, 33.3, and 16 rpm. I only ever remember seeing and hearing one 16 rpm record - I think a classical music one. Does anyone else remember these records? Were they a curiosity which soon died? Has anyone still got one?

Oh yes, it's all coming back to me now through the mists...I'm sure we had one when we were small, it accompanied a book of childrens stories. I don't have it but will see if my sister does.We still have lots of 78's which were my mums...do people still collect them?
I think the 16 rpm records were usually "spoken word" where the sound quality was less critical than getting more onto a disc.
