though i didnt download antispyware bot i still get a annoying and persistent pop up when i start up my computer

Use a reliable antispyware to scan your pc. Also, look at which programs are starting up when Windows starts up - there may be something lurking there..

I find a combination of Windows Defender, Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware 2007 (all freeware) keep my PC spyware free
