ide or sata

hi, going to change cd/dvd drive in my dell inspiration 3100 desktop to a dvd burner.. how can I tell or find out if it is sata or ide? or could it be something else? I've looked on the dell website but not conclusive either way.

If it is older than about 6 months it is probably IDE.

If it is connected with a cable like this (very wide and flat) it is definately IDE
