1984 Land Rover won't tick over

I own a 1984 Station Wagon. The only problem is it won't run for any longer then about 20 seconds! It's starts okay and promptly cuts out. I do not have a brilliant knowledge of Land Rovers and hope someone here can help me out before I spend more ��.

I have fitted new spark plugs to the correct gap, fitted new HT leads, new rotar arm, new dizzy cap and a new coil today. I have also had the carb off and cleaned it but did not dismantle at.

Any suggestions?

Also replaced the fuel filter. It is a petrol engine. Any iother bright ideas? Anything helpful appreciated!
