Improve quality of downloaded YouTube videos

I use Media Convert to change downloaded YouTube videos from .flv to MP4 format. However, once I transfer them to a DVD-RW the reuslting TV image is quite pixelated. Does anyone know how I could improve the quality of my ripped vids?

I think the problems are in the starting data. Youtube videos are compressed to play in a little box on the website. You are trying the stretch them into TV sizes. There just isn't enough data to do that so they look awful.
